Safe Haven Will Hit Blu-ray And DVD In May

Posted by Staff in Apr 11,2013 with No Comments

Today, you can hear the smooth, silky voice of Josh Duhamel narrating the underwater documentary Planet Ocean, or you can just hang out for a few weeks while Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment puts together the Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download release of Safe Haven, a romance film based on a novel by—you guessed it—Nicholas Sparks. Safe Haven will hit the aforementioned mediums on May 7.

The nicely paced book by Sparks is a little more hurried when played out onscreen in Lasse Hallström’s film by Duhamel and actress Julianne Hough. The film follows a newcomer (Hough) to a small town who attracts the interest of a widower, Alex (Duhamel). The two begin to spend time together until a dark secret threatens to come between them.

If you’ve caught the flick, you’ll know the secret’s not much of a secret, although the film does offer an oddball plot twist. Overall, however, there’s no denying the chemistry Duhamel and Hough are able to achieve onscreen. For a popcorn of a flick, the film offers enough reasons for romance lovers, at least, to watch. Plus, if you are already know you liked the movie and are planning to buy Safe Haven, the Blu-ray bonus features, especially, are worthy of a perusal. Fergie has announced a new pea joining the pod.

The 37-year-old Black Eyed Peas singer tweeted the exciting news this afternoon.

It will be the first child for the couple, who married in January 2009. The two have often talked about wanting to expand their family.

Duhamel, 40, said he hoped to one day have five children, but Fergie lowered his expectations.

Duhamel, who starred on the NBC drama Las Vegas, has already been inducted into Nickelodeon’s Arm Fart Hall of Fame and showered in green goo.

Josh Duhamel, Oliver Hudson, Mark Gordon Sell Soap Opera Drama to ABC

Posted by Staff in Nov 18,2012 with No Comments

The Mark Gordon Co. is going full-steam ahead with a pair of soap opera-themed dramas set up at ABC and NBC.

At ABC, Transformers star Josh Duhamel is teaming with Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts for an untitled drama about a daytime soap opera that explores the loves, lives and lunacy at an on-the-bubble network soap opera, where the antics of the cast and crew are crazier than any plot lines they broadcast. Set as the TV genre is faltering, the larger-than-life workplace family fights a never-ending desperate battle to keep their show on the air, egos secure and relationships in tact.

The new show is based on an original idea by Duhamel, who recurred as Leo on ABC’s All My Children. The actor co-created the concept with Berg and Harberts (Revenge, GCB, Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls) — who will pen the script — and executive produce alongside Mark Gordon Co. head of drama Nicholas Pepper and actor Oliver Hudson (Rules of Engagement, Dawson’s Creek). Hudson and Duhamel both might appear onscreen should the project move forward, though not in a series regular capacity.

The project comes a year after Duhamel reprised his role on All My Children as the long-running soap marched toward its final episode. ABC in April 2011 opted to cancel both AMC and One Life to Live to make room for two younger-skewing lifestyle-oriented series in The Chew and The Revolution. Read the rest of this entry »
