Josh Duhamel: I Got Ryan Seacrest’s Approval Before Intimate Scene With Julianne Hough

Posted by Staff in Feb 14,2013 with No Comments

Don’t worry, Ryan Seacrest! Josh Duhamel is not trying to steal your woman. The handsome actor visited the TODAY show Tuesday, Feb. 12 and revealed he had an uncomfortable talk with the E! host about the romantic scenes he shares with his girlfriend, Julianne Hough, in the new film Safe Haven.

Though several costars who have starred in the movies based on Nicholas Sparks’ novels have ended up dating in real life — Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus — Duhamel, who has been married to Fergie for four years, assured Seacrest that would not be their case.

“It was out of respect for him and his relationship with her, mostly,” Duhamel, 40, explained of his decision to chat face-to-face with Seacrest, 38. “These movies are very intimate and I just wanted to say, ‘Listen, you don’t have to worry about anything,’” he said. “Ryan was more cool with it than I was. It was an awkward conversation, to say the least. I created something that I didn’t need to.”

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Hough, 24, said she wasn’t worried about Seacrest, her boyfriend of nearly three years, seeing her kissing scenes with Duhamel. But, she joked, “Kissing scene not so much, maybe the other scene . . . no, he’s cool with it.”

And Duhamel insists the film, which opens in theaters on Valentine’s Day, is more than just a chick flick. The actor, who admitted to crying a lot during Sparks’ The Notebook, explained, “It’s very much a thriller, as much a romantic movie.” [Source]

Posted by Staff in Feb 10,2013 with No Comments

Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough get up close and personal in their upcoming romance, “Safe Haven.”

So, did the co-stars get the approval from each other’s significant others prior to filming their steamy scenes?

“Yes, I did feel the need to seek approval from Ryan [Seacrest] before we started shooting the movie — mostly out of respect for Ryan and the relationship,” Josh told Access Hollywood at the “Safe Haven” premiere in Los Angeles, of seeking the OK from Julianne’s beau ahead of the romance. “But it was rather awkward!”

Julianne didn’t think of contacting Josh’s wife, Fergie, until after her co-star asked Ryan for his permission.

“Once [Josh] did it, I was like, ‘Oh shoot! should I call Fergie? Whoops!’” Julianne told Access with a laugh. “But no — they’re awesome. Fergie’s amazing, so is Ryan, so… I mean, they haven’t seen the movie yet, so we’ll see!”

The blonde beauty also raved about working with her co-star on the movie (adapted for the screen from a Nicolas Sparks novel).

“[Working with Josh] was amazing. This literally was probably the best summer of my life,” she said. “I mean, everybody on the set was so into making it the best movie possible. But yet having the ease and the patience that it takes to make a, almost like an indie movie with the love and joy that you put into that.”

Josh Duhamel, Oliver Hudson, Mark Gordon Sell Soap Opera Drama to ABC

Posted by Staff in Nov 18,2012 with No Comments

The Mark Gordon Co. is going full-steam ahead with a pair of soap opera-themed dramas set up at ABC and NBC.

At ABC, Transformers star Josh Duhamel is teaming with Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts for an untitled drama about a daytime soap opera that explores the loves, lives and lunacy at an on-the-bubble network soap opera, where the antics of the cast and crew are crazier than any plot lines they broadcast. Set as the TV genre is faltering, the larger-than-life workplace family fights a never-ending desperate battle to keep their show on the air, egos secure and relationships in tact.

The new show is based on an original idea by Duhamel, who recurred as Leo on ABC’s All My Children. The actor co-created the concept with Berg and Harberts (Revenge, GCB, Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls) — who will pen the script — and executive produce alongside Mark Gordon Co. head of drama Nicholas Pepper and actor Oliver Hudson (Rules of Engagement, Dawson’s Creek). Hudson and Duhamel both might appear onscreen should the project move forward, though not in a series regular capacity.

The project comes a year after Duhamel reprised his role on All My Children as the long-running soap marched toward its final episode. ABC in April 2011 opted to cancel both AMC and One Life to Live to make room for two younger-skewing lifestyle-oriented series in The Chew and The Revolution. Read the rest of this entry »
